PARISH DEVELOPMENT
PARISH PLANNING TEAM Mtg. #1
On Monday, January 5, the first meeting of the Parish Planning
Team (PPT) was held with approximately 70 people in attendance. At this
meeting, David Kissell from the Institute of School & Parish
Development (ISPD), Fr. Mark, and members of the Parish Development
Core Team, presented an overview of the Long Range Advancement Plan
(LRAP) process. The overall goal of the LRAP process is to create a
dynamic plan for the future that will meet the needs of present
parishioners and future generations. Over the next four months, the PPT
will work through a process to develop the long-
range advancement plan for the parish. Once developed, the plan will be
presented to the parish for input at the parish-wide Convocation to be
held in late-May/early-June (details about the Convocation will be
published in the coming months). Below are the steps the PPT will
follow to develop the LRAP:
- Orientation on the LRAP Planning Process
- Introduction to the Strategies Workbook
- Completion of the Case Questionnaire
- Review of the Parish Mission Statement
- Completion of a SWOT (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats) study of the Planning Areas
- Creation of Purpose Statements for the Planning Areas
- Identify Challenges for each Planning Area
- Develop Strategic Solutions to solve the Challenges
- Prioritization of Challenges
- Finalize rough draft of the LRAP
- Parish Mission Statement
- Planning Areas
- Purpose Statements
- Challenges / Strategic Solutions
- Presentation of draft to the parish for input
- Parish Convocation to solve the Challenges
- Presentation of the final LRAP
- Implementation Begins!!!
LRAP PLANNING AREAS
The LRAP process is designed to look at all areas of the
parish so that a comprehensive plan can be created for the future.
Therefore, the Parish Staff, with input from the Development Core Team,
identified six Planning Areas to work with during the LRAP process. The
six Planning Areas are:
- AREA A: Liturgy & Worship
- AREA B: Outreach & Evangelization
- AREA C: Stewardship & Development
- AREA D: Faith Formation
- AREA E: Parish Life
- AREA F: Administration & Finance
Over the next four months, members of the Parish Planning Team will work within one of the planning areas to develop Purpose Statements, Challenges, and Strategic Solutions for each planning area.
