PARISH PLANNING TEAM  SURFACES CHALLENGES, SEEKS SOLUTIONS

In the course of five meetings, the Parish Planning Team worked within six planning areas and developed key challenges in each area. The challenges within each planning area are listed on this insert.
The next step is to gather ideas from ALL parishioners to solve these challenges at the Parish Convocation. The Convocation is taking place on Monday, June 8 @ 6:30 p.m. – registration/dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m.

  • Planning Area A:  Liturgy & Worship 
    • Challenge A – 1: How can we facilitate the creation of a more prayerful and reflective worship environment?
    • Challenge A – 2:    How can we create/maintain an environment in which people of differing backgrounds, personalities and faith traditions can feel at home at St. Al’s?
    • Challenge A – 3:  How can we get more people actively involved in liturgy and sharing their gifts for the glory of God?
    • Challenge A – 4:  How can we balance musical quality and inclusion?
  • Planning Area B:  Outreach & Evangelization
    • Challenge B – 1:  How can we be more welcoming?
    • Challenge B – 2:  How can we encourage people to participate, share talents, and identify leaders and volunteers?
    • Challenge B – 3:  How can we find out about needs of the parishioners?
    • Challenge B – 4:  How can we evangelize to young adults, keeping in mind the potential need to segregate high school students from those ages 20 to 40?
    • Challenge B – 5:  How can we inform people about our strengths and groups?
    • Challenge B – 6:  How can we promote and strengthen the St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) efforts?
  • Planning Area C:  Stewardship & Development
    • Challenge C – 1:  How do we communicate opportunities for stewardship?
    • Challenge C – 2:  How do we recognize those involved giving of time, talent, and treasure?
    • Challenge C – 3: How do we invite, encourage involvement and personal commitment?
    • Challenge C – 4:  How do we educate what stewardship and development are?
    • Challenge C – 5:  How do we find out what the community has to offer and track/maintain info?
    • Challenge C – 6:  How do we create and build community?
  • Planning Area D:  Faith Formation
    • Challenge D – 1:  How can we engage our youth in Catholic Faith Formation?
    • Challenge D – 2:  How do we continue to develop our adult Faith Formation?
    • Challenge D – 3:  How can we utilize Faith Formation opportunities to develop a sense of community at St. Aloysius?
    • Challenge D – 4:  How can we expand and develop parish leadership in Faith Formation activities?   
    • Challenge D – 5:   How can we continue evaluation of Faith Formation programs?
    • Challenge D – 6:   How can we promote the use of technology in our Faith Formation activities?
  • Planning Area E:  Parish Life
    • Challenge E – 1:  How do we facilitate leadership to promote and sustain Parish Life activities?
    • Challenge E – 2:  How can we effectively communicate, both within the parish and to the wider community the many opportunities and events involving St. Al’s?
    • Challenge E – 3:  How can we create and enhance opportunities that encourage and increase Parish Life involvement across all age groups?
    • Challenge E – 4:  How do we involve the greater BG Community in Parish Life Activities?
    • Challenge E – 5:  How do we manage facility and event scheduling?
  • Planning Area F:  Administration & Finance
    • Challenge F – 1:  How do we develop and implement a master plan for facilities to address: 1) Maintenance and upkeep of existing facilities, 2) Further utilization of current spaces, and 3) Expansion to meet future needs (ex: gathering space).
    • Challenge F – 2:  How do we develop a financial strategy that meets the current budget and captures new and creative sources of funding?
    • Challenge F – 3:  How do we utilize technology to reduce costs and reach more parishioners?
    • Challenge F – 4:  How do we financially support our current and future ministries, as well as meet their facility needs?
    • Challenge F – 5:  How do we attract and retain staff, and encourage and support volunteers?
    • Challenge F – 6:  How do we effectively communicate finances and other administrative issues? 

All are invited to attend the Parish Convocation!!!

The Parish Convocation will allow ALL St. Aloysius parishioners the opportunity to express their opinions about the future of the parish.   At the Convocation, we will ask for your involvement/input in the following ways: 

  1. Learn about our Long Range Planning Process 
  2. Review the Parish Mission Statement 
  3. Create solutions for the challenges identified by the PPT 
  4. Prioritize the challenges
  5. Sign-up to help with implementation
