AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO GET INVOLVED

St. Aloysius Pastoral Council is looking for potential members for this important ministry to our parish.  One becomes a member of the Pastoral Council, not by a parish vote, but by discerning with the other members of the Council whether or not this is his or her calling.

The Pastoral Council is meant for those who are willing to dream about what our parish could become, and then to have their dreams honed, as the members together seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  To do this, the PC spends a significant part of time at each meeting in faith sharing and shared prayer to help carry out the responsibility of giving counsel to the pastor in visioning the right direction for our parish.  It has a very important function in helping to decide what the priorities of our parish should be.

If you think that God may be calling you to help with the parish vision, so that we may follow Jesus more effectively, the best way for you to discern this is for you to attend a meeting or two.  Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, June 29 at Father Mark’s home (324 Clough), and Tuesday, August 24 in Clare Hall.  All meetings are at 7:30 p.m.  If you are interested please call Kay Heffernan or Father Mark at 419-352-4915.

If the Spirit leads you to this ministry, you will be asked to make a commitment in September to serve for three years.  It usually takes a year to grasp more fully what our parish is about and to grow together in developing a community which can dream together.

NOT ABLE TO GET TO CHURCH? If because of age, illness or other reasons you are not able to come to church, please contact the parish office.  If transportation is your problem we will try to find you a ride.  If your health does not allow you to take part in the Mass, we want to keep our connection with you by bringing you Communion at home.  We have a number of Ministers of Holy Communion who are trained and want to bring the Eucharist to you in your home.  Father Mark will also try to bring you Communion every two months on First Thursdays.  Please let us know if you or someone you know has not been able to get to church, so that we can get connected again.  Contact Sharon Hall at 419-352-4195, or e mail the parish office at: parishoffice@stalbg.org.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!: Because of the current economic downturn, requests for assistance from our St. Vincent de Paul Society as well as our Food Pantry have increased dramatically. In an effort to meet these needs, we are asking for contributions of specific food items. Please bring these contributions with you on Sunday. During Mass, you will be asked to bring them forward and put them in baskets located in front of the altar. The request for food will take place on the first Sunday of each month along with the financial request you are already familiar with. Family giving of this kind will help build positive attitudes in all of us, especially our children! Your generosity is greatly appreciated by so many in our community!
