Outreach Ministries

The St. Aloysius Help & Hope Fund's mission is to administer direct aid to those who lack food, shelter or other necessities for their dignity and survival. It serves as a liaison with Pathstone, Wood County Jobs & Family Services, The Salvation Army, United Way in Wood County, and Wood County Area Ministries. In coordinating our food pantry, the Society calls upon the entire parish to help collect, sort and store the food in the pantry and assist in the distribution.

Christ's Crib is a way for all parishioners to help those less fortunate for Christmas. We put out gift tags with needed items in Christ's Crib. Our volunteers then put together baskets and deliver them directly to the families in our community who are in need of food, clothing and presents for Christmas. Please contact the church office if you are interested in helping.

Hospital Visits are made weekly, usually on Tuesday, to take Holy Communion to Catholic patients at Wood County Hospital. Please let us know when you enter a hospital, as some hospitals do not inform us of admissions. If you know a hospital patient who needs a priest please call the Parish Office.

Nursing Homes are visited on a regular basis by Extraordinary Ministers who take Holy Communion to the Catholic resident. Volunteers visit the nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the Bowling Green area on a weekly basis.  Several levels of service are needed.  Some ministers are needed for leading communion services, others might pray the rosary with a resident and others may simply spend a few minutes with a resident in simple conversation.   It is not necessary to make a large time commitment.  If you have a loving heart, an hour or two a month to spare and you are willing, please consider becoming involved in this ministry.

Homebound Parishioners are visited weekly with Holy Communion.

Funeral Luncheons are offered for any parish member in Hartmann Hall.  The luncheon consists of cold cuts, cheeses, assorted breads, etc., and additional food is donated by parishioners to supplement the luncheon.  There are four community opportunities to volunteer your services to this worthwhile ministry: 1) Main organizer and kitchen supervisor. 2) Phone Captains to call people to solicit donations of food. 3) The donation/preparation of food.  4) Set up and serving including cleanup.
