Anointing of the Sick

Image

Jesus came to heal the whole person, body and soul. Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing. "By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ." (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

HOW DOES THE SACRAMENT WORK AT OUR PARISH?
A communal celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick takes places approximately four times per year after Mass. Individuals also may be anointed before events like a serious surgery, during a hospital stay, or when suffering an acute illness.
